Latest Edition of The Paralympian Out Now
The latest edition of The Paralympian, the official magazine of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), is out now.
This month IPC President Sir Philip Craven explains the rationale behind the IPC’s new Strategic Plan 2011-2014. Launched on 5 May the plan aims to propel the Paralympic Games to the next level while increasing the number of people participating in Paralympic Sport at all levels around the world.
Also included in the latest issue is an interview with Australian sprint superstar Evan O’Hanlon. The 23 year old followed up his 100m and 200m gold medal success at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games by claiming World titles over the same distances earlier this year at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand. The T38 runner explains why he now wants to challenge Irish T13 sprinter Jason Smyth to the ‘Fastest Paralympian in the World’ title.
The Paralympian also includes updates from the Organizing Committees of the next three Paralympic Games, a profile on NPC New Zealand and an important information about the IPC Medical Code which will come into force in 2013 to ensure that all sport is practiced in a safe manner.
There is reaction to the inclusion of Para-Canoe and Para-Triathlon in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games sports programme as well as reviews and previews of some great sporting events.
In addition, to the online version there are also extended video interviews with Evan O’Hanlon and Seb Coe, Chair of the London 2012 Organizing Committee (LOCOG) on www.paralympicsport.tv and www.youtube.com/paralympicsporttv
